A PhD in land restoration taught him what evidence regulators actually need. Two startups — one digitising ecological surveying at Oxford, another using satellite imagery to monitor land restoration and conservation — taught him how to build it. And years at EY, developing tools to validate evidence for audit teams and assessing rehabilitation funding, showed him exactly where the process breaks down: companies spending weeks assembling documentation that auditors still can’t trust.
ResourceLedger exists because the gap between what companies produce and what auditors need shouldn’t require an army of consultants to bridge. Roger moved to Thailand and built the platform from the ground up — designed for the origin markets where compliance evidence is hardest to collect and most critical to get right.

Founder — Oxford Ecological Surveying Startup
Built a digital tool at the University of Oxford to teach ecological surveying techniques, replacing paper-based fieldwork with structured data capture.
PhD Researcher — University of Queensland
Land restoration research. Learned first-hand what evidence regulators and auditors actually need from field data.
Founder — Envirometrics
VC-backed. Satellite data to monitor mine site condition, track land restoration progress, and develop natural capital accounting tools.

Assessed rehabilitation funding, built audit evidence tools. Saw how much time was lost to documentation that should have been straightforward.
